Memorial Day alters city service schedules for May 27

May 21, 2024 — City services and facilities will experience schedule changes due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 27, 2023.

City offices will be closed on Monday, May 27. Garbage collection will not occur that day; instead, Monday collections will be made on Wednesday, May 29. Similarly, there will be no street sweeping on Monday; it is rescheduled for Wednesday, May 29.

The yard waste site and landfill will also be closed on Monday. City schools, libraries, community centers, neighborhood centers, Fort Monroe Pool, Treasurer’s Office & Commissioner of Revenue’s Office, DMV Select office, and courts will all remain closed on Memorial Day.

City parks and Bluebird Gap Farm will operate during regular hours. Public golf courses such as The Woodlands and The Hamptons will be open but will charge weekend/holiday rates. The tennis center will also maintain its regular hours.

The Hampton History Museum will be open during regular hours; however, its administrative office will be closed. The James T. Wilson Fishing Pier remains open with normal operating hours.

Peninsula Health District and clinics are scheduled to close for the holiday as well.
