Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has announced the suspension of its services early on Wednesday, February 19, due to an anticipated winter storm. Services will also be halted throughout Thursday, February 20.
Operations on Wednesday are scheduled to conclude by 4 p.m., allowing commuters time to reach their destinations before heavy snowfall impacts the area. "Service on Wednesday will end no later than 4 p.m., giving customers the ability to get to work and home before heavy snowfall is expected to engulf the region," HRT stated.
The suspension affects all bus routes, paratransit services, the Tide Light Rail, Elizabeth River Ferry, OnDemand ridesharing, and the Base Express at Naval Station Norfolk. "HRT will not operate on Thursday, Feb. 20 due to expected treacherous road conditions," they added.
Decisions regarding service schedules for Friday, February 21 will be made based on weather conditions and communicated on Thursday. During this period, transit center information booths and public access to administrative facilities will remain closed. The Customer Service Call Center will also be unavailable.
For updates and further details, HRT advises visiting their website or contacting them via phone.
