PORTSMOUTH, VA — The Mustard Seed Place (TMSP) has announced MOMENTUM 2025, a weekend-long event scheduled for April 4–6, 2025, celebrating a year of significant contributions to the Portsmouth community. During the event, TMSP will also introduce the Museum of Black Women Innovators, set to open in December 2025.

Since its opening in 2024, The Mustard Seed Place has supported economic empowerment by fostering ten women-centric businesses and attracting over 9,000 visitors. “We’ve spent the last year planting seeds, and now it’s time to harvest the momentum,” said Dr. Angela Reddix, founder of TMSP. She emphasized the event's purpose, “MOMENTUM 2025 is more than a celebration—it’s a declaration. We are here to preserve the legacy of Black women, empower the next generation, and build something that will echo through time. This is our moment, and the world is watching.”

The event will feature several activities:

- On Friday, April 4, a Celebration Reception & Historic Reveal from 8 PM to 10 PM will showcase the announcement of the Museum of Black Women Innovators. An interactive design workshop led by the firm Roto will also take place.

- On Saturday, April 5, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, activist Tamika D. Mallory will engage attendees in a Fireside Chat & Book Signing. Momentum Conference Workshops focusing on personal growth and business innovation will occur from 12 PM to 2 PM.

- On Sunday, April 6, from 12 PM to 2 PM, a Community Service Project in partnership with the YWCA-SHR will involve assembling care packages with hair care products for Black women.

Reflecting on TMSP's impact, Mayor Shannon Glover expressed his excitement, “As Mayor of the great city of Portsmouth, I am thrilled to celebrate the remarkable progress of The Mustard Seed Place. Dr. Reddix’s visionary leadership has made a lasting impact, and the Museum of Black Women Innovators will further establish Portsmouth as a national leader in honoring culture, community, and history.”

Early bird tickets for the Friday and Saturday events can be purchased at www.mustardseedplace.com/momentum.

TMSP continues to grow, driven by its mission to empower women, foster small businesses, and inspire community change through mentorship and creative programs.
