The City of Newport News is set to launch a National Community Survey aimed at gathering feedback from residents to evaluate city services. This initiative intends to guide future decisions aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Newport News inhabitants.

The survey will be conducted in two phases. Initially, 4,000 randomly selected households will receive a paper invitation to participate by mail. These households can opt to complete the survey on paper or online. The second phase will start on May 5 and will be accessible online to all residents. The survey content will remain consistent across both phases to ensure uniformity in collected opinions.

The collection period will continue until May 19.

"We are dedicated to ensuring the voices of our residents are heard," said Mayor Phillip Jones. "This survey will provide us with invaluable insight to understand the needs and priorities of the city. This is an opportunity for everyone to share their perspective and play a role in making Newport News an even better place to live and work."

Residents are encouraged to sign up with their email addresses for notifications when the survey is available to the public. Additionally, participants can request a copy of the survey results once they have been analyzed.

The survey will cover various topics, including mobility, utilities, safety, economy, engagement, and the natural environment. It is estimated to take less than 10 minutes to complete.
