North King Street near the Interstate 64 overpass will be closed, at least through the weekend, due to emergency road repairs. The closure is at the point where the road crosses Bright's Creek, between The Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery and Spring Street, just south of the overpass.
Detour signs will direct southbound drivers to use Rip Rap Road to Armistead Avenue to Pembroke Avenue. Drivers headed north will use the same streets in reverse order. North King Street is open in front of The Vanguard and parking lots, which are accessible via the Pembroke Avenue part of the detour.
Crews are assessing the scope of the repair work, but there is no estimate yet on when the road will reopen.
