City services will experience changes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, observed on Monday, January 20. The following adjustments have been announced:
City offices will be closed for the day. Garbage and recycling collections scheduled for Monday will instead occur on Wednesday, January 22. Street sweeping planned for Monday is rescheduled to Wednesday, January 22, with Wednesday's sweeping moved to Friday, January 24.
The yard waste site will not operate on the holiday, while the landfill remains open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
City schools and libraries will be closed in observance of the holiday. Community and neighborhood centers will also close their doors on this day.
The Commissioner of the Revenue and Treasurer’s Office, DMV Select, courts, and Peninsula Health District clinics are among other facilities that will not be operational.
Public golf courses such as The Hampton and The Woodlands will remain open for visitors. City parks including Bluebird Gap Farm and Air Power Park are also open to the public.
While galleries at the Hampton History Museum are accessible to visitors, its offices will be closed. Seasonal closures continue for the carousel, Hampton Tennis Center, and James T. Wilson Fishing Pier.
