Mayor Jimmy Gray and new City Council members took their oaths of office at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. Joining Mayor Gray were newly elected council members Randy Bowman, Carolyn Campbell, Michelle Ferebee, and re-elected member Hope Harper.

During the ceremony, Steve Brown was chosen as the new vice mayor by the City Council. Brown succeeds Gray in this role after Gray's election as mayor in November. Previously, Gray served as vice mayor under Donnie Tuck, who did not seek re-election after two terms.

In his speech following the oath-taking, Mayor Gray stated: "This is more than a title. It's a responsibility. This team, this council, is going to work together to tackle the challenges and make a meaningful difference together."

The council now includes members Ferebee, Campbell, Bowman alongside Mayor Gray, Vice Mayor Brown, Council member Harper and incumbent Martha Mugler.

The City Council is scheduled to meet tonight for its regular legislative session at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall located at 22 Lincoln St. It is open to the public and will be broadcast on Cox channel 47 and Verizon channel 22. Additionally, it can be viewed online via live stream at hampton.gov/livetv.
