Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has announced its service schedules for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. On December 31, 2024, HRT bus, light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and ridesharing services will maintain their regular schedules. The ferry will extend its operations until 2:00 AM. The Downtown Norfolk Transit Center information booth will close at 4:30 PM, while other transit center information booths will follow their usual schedules. Administrative facilities will be closed on this day. The Customer Service Call Center will be available from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

On January 1, 2025, most HRT bus routes will operate on a standard Sunday schedule. However, some routes will have a modified Sunday schedule with earlier service end times; details are available on Gohrt.com. Light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and ridesharing services will follow a Sunday schedule. The ferry service will continue as per its regular schedule. Administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will not be operational.

Routes serving the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard—403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967 and 972—will remain out of service from December 23 through January 1 due to the shipyard's holiday closure. These routes are set to resume on January 2.

For further details or assistance in Spanish or TTY services provided by Virginia Relay at dial number 711 can be used.
