Councilwoman Tina Vick has been appointed as the new chair of Virginia First Cities (VFC), a coalition that represents the largest cities in Virginia. Vick, who is known for her leadership on the Newport News City Council, takes on this role to continue her efforts in advocating for urban communities across the Commonwealth.

Virginia First Cities is an organization focused on addressing challenges faced by urban areas, including economic development, affordable housing, transportation, education, and public safety. As chair of VFC, Vick will guide the coalition in its mission to amplify the voices of Virginia’s cities and ensure their representation in state legislation.

“I am deeply honored to be selected as Chair of VFC,” said Vick. “Virginia’s cities are vibrant, diverse communities that are vital to the Commonwealth’s success. As chair, I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to push for policies that support sustainable growth, create economic opportunities, and improve the quality of life for all residents in our cities.”

With over 16 years on the Newport News City Council, Vick has established herself as a strong advocate for economic development and community engagement. Her experience includes chairing the Community Development Block Grant Committee and serving as Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee. She also acts as a liaison on various city boards and commissions such as Architectural Review and Newport News Redevelopment Authority.

The appointment marks a new phase for Virginia First Cities as it continues its work representing urban issues at the state level under Vick's leadership.
