Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently visited the Hampton Logistics Center site alongside Mayor Jimmy Gray and other local leaders. The center is expected to offer over 500,000 square feet of Class-A industrial space upon completion this fall. Governor Youngkin sees the center as part of Virginia's appeal as a top state for business.
“All roads in Hampton Roads lead to Hampton,” Youngkin stated, emphasizing the economic benefits and job opportunities the center brings. "When all the gears are turning, it’s miraculous," he said, expressing optimism with “You are hired.”
The $70 million development at 1012 N. Campus Parkway will consist of two industrial buildings totaling 506,559 square feet and is expected to earn LEED Gold certification. Mayor Gray highlighted its strategic location near the Port of Virginia and Interstate 64 as advantageous for business expansion.
Youngkin reiterated the importance of this development: “This is the future. This is why companies and families choose to come here and stay here — because they trust their future to us."
The buildings will offer facilities like 36-foot clear ceiling heights and truck courts. With the completion of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project, its location will serve both local and global markets effectively.
Stephen Edwards, CEO of the Port of Virginia, remarked on the potential growth: “We are building something better than any other port in the nation.”
Developers Manekin LLC and Turnbridge Equities acquired the site last year, and construction started last summer. The event concluded with a presentation of a flag to Manekin CEO John Graham, with a request to fly it over the new center.
