Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is offering free rides on April 22 in honor of Earth Day. This initiative covers all forms of transit services provided by HRT, including bus, light rail, ferry, paratransit, and OnDemand ridesharing.

Residents in the Hampton Roads area are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to experience public transportation without any cost. HRT has made available a system map for those planning their trips on this day.

In addition, the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads, which governs HRT, will involve its board members in hosting round-trip rides. These rides are designed to engage with the community and understand the impact of public transit on local areas. Specifically, HRT Commissioner Tony Goodwin will participate in this outreach effort in Portsmouth. He will be available to meet with riders at 10:10 a.m. at County and Crawford, located at 601 Crawford St. Following this, they will board Route 45 and return to the initial stop at 11:34 a.m.
