City services and facilities will see several changes due to the observance of Veterans Day on Monday, November 11, 2024. City offices will be closed for the day.

Garbage collection will not occur on Veterans Day. Instead, collections scheduled for that day will take place on Wednesday, November 13. Yard waste sites will also be closed on November 11. The landfill, however, will operate during its regular hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Street sweeping planned for Monday is rescheduled to Wednesday, November 13. Sweeping initially set for Wednesday will now occur on Friday, November 15.

City schools and libraries are among the facilities that will close their doors on Veterans Day. Community centers and neighborhood centers are also included in the closures.

The Treasurer and Commissioner of Revenue offices along with DMV Select locations will not open on Monday. Courts across the city are scheduled to remain closed as well.

Residents can still enjoy city parks which will maintain regular hours of operation including Bluebird Gap Farm, Sandy Bottom Nature Park, and Gosnold's Hope Park. Public golf courses such as The Woodlands and The Hamptons welcome visitors at their usual times.

While the Hampton History Museum's administrative offices are closed, the museum itself remains open as do all city parks on Veterans Day. James T. Wilson pier is accessible too.

The Peninsula Health District clinics are another service unavailable that day.

Hampton Roads Transit continues its operations following a regular schedule; however, its administrative offices and transit center information booths will not be open to the public.
