Mayor-elect Jimmy Gray is currently attending the Bloomberg Center for Cities' Program for New Mayors: The First 100 Days. This initiative aims to equip new mayors with the necessary skills to establish strategic priorities and enhance leadership capabilities as they commence their terms.

Gray, who will assume office on January 1, joins two dozen other newly elected mayors from across the United States at Harvard University. The program is a collaborative effort involving Bloomberg Philanthropies, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School. Participants engage with Harvard faculty and experts in government innovation, urban policy, and management.

Elected to the City Council in 2016 and serving as vice mayor since then, Gray was chosen as mayor on November 5. He will take over from Donnie Tuck, who decided not to seek re-election after an 8½-year tenure. In 2021, Tuck participated in the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.

Expressing gratitude towards Bloomberg Philanthropies for its "generous support and … commitment to empowering new mayors," Gray stated: "I look forward to applying the lessons learned to address the challenges and opportunities facing our community."

Bloomberg Philanthropies covers all costs associated with Mayor-elect Gray's participation in this program.
