Newport News prepares for Tropical Storm Debby

Newport News officials are monitoring Tropical Storm Debby and its potential impact on the city. City staff are pre-positioning equipment and supplies, with each department reviewing severe weather plans and procedures. The City of Newport News will partially activate its Emergency Operation Center (EOC) on Thursday, August 8 at 8 a.m. to monitor conditions throughout the day.

At this time, solid waste and recycling collections will operate on a normal schedule. Currently, all roads are accessible throughout the city.
