Of the 95,097 citizens living in Portsmouth in 2019, 72,820 were old enough to vote as of Jan. 26, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

The bureau reported 38,394 of those people were female and 34,426 were male.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau’s American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.

Statistical data for 2020 will be released later this year.
