City offices and various services will be closed on Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents Day. This closure affects several city departments and services.
Trash and recycling collections scheduled for February 17 will instead occur on Wednesday, February 19. Street sweeping originally planned for that Monday will also take place on Wednesday, with Wednesday's sweeping moved to Friday, February 21.
The Yard Waste Site will not operate on the holiday. However, the landfill remains open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
City schools are among the facilities closing their doors for the day. Libraries, community centers, neighborhood centers, and the Treasurer’s office will all be closed as well.
The Commissioner of Revenue’s Office and DMV Select locations will not be operational on Presidents Day. Courts and both Hampton and Peninsula Health Districts will also observe the holiday closure.
In contrast, public golf courses such as The Woodlands and The Hamptons welcome visitors on this day. City parks along with Bluebird Gap Farm remain accessible to the public.
While the Hampton History Museum is open to visitors, its administrative offices will not be staffed. All services provided by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) continue to run according to their regular schedule; however, information booths at transit centers will not be available.
