One City Marathon offers free community workshops promoting health and fitness

One City Marathon has teamed up with sponsors, health professionals, and local businesses to host a series of workshops focused on health, wellness, and fitness throughout January and February. These sessions are free and open to individuals of all ages. Some workshops require registration due to limited space.

Every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., certified Zumba instructor Jennifer Ball Collins will lead Zumba classes at 704 Mariners Row in City Center. "Bring your energy, positive vibes, and come sweat and move," encourages the announcement for this class.

On Wednesday, January 15th, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., NuleeU will present "Dinner with a Dietitian - Lunch Edition" at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center in Newport News. Participants can learn new lunch recipes and meal prep tips. This workshop is free but limited to 40 participants; registration is required.

Line dancing enthusiasts can join Break It Down RVA instructors on Friday, January 17th, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., also at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center. The event promises fun for all levels with the opportunity to win a free race registration.

Salsa dancing will be featured on Wednesday, January 22nd from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by Bachata dancing on Wednesday, February 5th at Holiday Inn Newport News during the same time slot. Both events are led by Bachata Vida Dance Company and offer chances for attendees to win race registrations.

BayPort Credit Union is hosting a Youth Financial Workshop on Wednesday, February 12th at Safehaven Empowerment Center from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., focusing on financial literacy for young people.

Finally, "Dinner with a Dietitian - Snack Edition" takes place on Wednesday, February 19th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., again at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center in Room 101. This session provides healthy snack options along with samples for participants.

These community-focused events aim to promote wellness through engaging activities accessible to everyone interested in improving their lifestyle choices.
