Meetings will also be available for on-demand viewing

Beginning with the July 25 meeting, Newport News City Council work sessions will be shown live on NNTV, live streamed on social media, and available for on-demand viewing after the meeting. Residents and anyone will be able to view the afternoon work sessions live on NNTV (Cox 48/Verizon 19), nnva.gov/nntv and on NNTV’s Facebook page. Regular evening meetings of City Council will continue to be available on the same channels for live and on-demand viewing.

“Live streaming City Council work sessions has been a priority of mine since day one,” said Mayor Phillip D. Jones. “While work sessions have always been open to the public, making them available to view live increases our level of transparency, offering additional access for residents to see first-hand the inner workings of their local officials.”

Work Sessions are typically held in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th Floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, and have various afternoon start times, depending on the length of the agenda. The agenda and start time of the July 25 work session have not yet been set, but will be available on the City's eMeetings portal on Friday before the scheduled meeting. Work sessions precede regular Council meetings, usually on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, with the exception of July, August and December when Council only holds one meeting in the month.

View full work session and regular meeting agendas and minutes, and watch past meetings on the City's eMeetings portal.
