Hampton professional lacrosse team will play at Coliseum
The Hampton Hammerheads, a box lacrosse team that will play in the Hampton Coliseum, starts its inaugural season on Friday, Dec. 30, with a road game in Salem. The team’s first home game is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 6.
The Hammerheads will play in the new Professional Box Lacrosse Association, which has nine teams along the East Coast from upstate New York to Charlotte, North Carolina. Box lacrosse is an indoor version of the sport, played in an enclosed field with similar dimensions to an ice hockey rink.
The team will play a 14-game regular season through April 15. All games will be played on weekends, with Friday and Saturday games starting at 7 p.m. and Sunday games at 2 p.m. The Hammerheads’ schedule can be found by clicking here. The league has a broadcasting agreement with Lacrosse TV, which is carried on several streaming services and has a YouTube channel. The Hammerheads’ home game on Friday, Feb. 10, is scheduled to be broadcast on Lacrosse TV.
