The city and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) are organizing a series of open house events to engage Hampton residents in a coastal storm risk study. The Peninsula Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study aims to identify future solutions to mitigate damage from coastal storms across the Virginia Peninsula. These events will provide an opportunity for residents to contribute their input, help shape the study's focus, and offer feedback on its potential impacts.
An open house event hosted by USACE is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.
Additionally, the city will hold four more open house events focusing on specific areas in Hampton:
- Newmarket Creek: Monday, Oct. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Aberdeen Elementary School.
- Coastal: Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5-7 p.m. at the Fox Hill Neighborhood Center.
- Hampton Roads Harbor: Monday, Oct. 28, from 5-7 p.m. at the Hampton Senior Center.
- Hampton River: Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ruppert Sargent Building.
These meetings are open to residents, business owners, and the general public without requiring registration.
