Mayor Donnie Tuck will conduct a town hall meeting on the evening of Thursday, July 25, at The American Theatre in Phoebus. The meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m., will provide an opportunity for the mayor to address issues currently affecting Hampton and for residents to ask questions and raise concerns.

At the town hall, Mayor Tuck will discuss the pending implementation of traffic cameras that are part of the city’s safety program. The first cameras will monitor traffic signals that restrict access to Interstate 64 East from Settlers Landing Road and Mallory Street from 3-6 p.m. on weekdays. They will begin operation on Aug. 1, with a one-month grace period during which violators will receive written warnings but no citations. Beginning in September, those in violation will receive citations by mail.

The cameras in those locations represent the first phase of the city’s traffic safety plan, which will also focus on school zones and other areas.

Representatives of Verra Mobility, the company contracted to install the cameras, will be at the meeting to explain the system and answer questions.

The American Theatre is located at 125 E. Mellen St.

This will be Mayor Tuck’s last town hall of 2024.
