The City Council is scheduled to convene on Wednesday, November 13, for its regular work session at 1 p.m. and legislative session at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the chambers located on the eighth floor of City Hall at 22 Lincoln Street.

During the legislative session, public hearings will be held regarding use permits submitted by Hampton University and the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, alongside two re-zoning permits. Additionally, there will be discussions about plans for the Urban League and The 200+ Men Foundation to utilize the Y.H. Thomas Community Center for programming and office functions.

The afternoon work session will focus on funding for outside agencies. Since 2008, city funding has been cut unless services directly support city departments. Last month, options for expanding this funding were presented to the City Council, and further discussion is expected this week. A briefing on a proposed ordinance to register derelict buildings vacant for over a year will also occur during this session.

Agendas and attendance information are available online. Both meetings can be viewed on TV channel 47 Cox and 22 Verizon or streamed live at hampton.gov/livetv.

These sessions are the only ones planned by the City Council in November due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
