The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a coastal advisory for Hampton, effective from 3 a.m. Thursday until 3 a.m. Friday. This will be followed by a coastal flood watch on Friday from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The advisory warns of potential conditions that could lead to up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. The subsequent flood watch suggests the possibility of up to two feet of inundation in these areas.

Flooding may result in road closures, and residents are advised not to drive around barricades or attempt to navigate waters of unknown depth. Properties, including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure within the affected zones, might also experience flooding.

"The Office of Emergency Management will continue to provide updates and monitor for future developments."
