June 17, 2024 — The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Thursday afternoon regarding the proposed expansion of a Dominion Power substation off Hardy Cash Drive.

The public hearing is part of the commission’s regular monthly meeting, which will be held at 3:30 p.m. in chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln St. The expansion of the substation would include the replacement of a transformer and other equipment, and improved access. The development would support current and future needs, including service to Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

The agenda also includes consideration of two zoning ordinances related to short-term rentals, both of which may be deferred until the July 18 meeting. There is also an application to re-zone four parcels on Semple Farm Road — totaling about eight acres — for the development of townhomes.

The Planning Commission meeting is open to the public. It will be broadcast on the city’s TV stations, Cox 47 and Verizon 22, and will be streamed live at hampton.gov/livetv.
