Christmas, New Year's holidays affect city services, facilities

Dec. 20, 2023 — Here’s a look at how the Christmas and New Year’s holidays will affect city offices and services in the week ahead.

City offices

Closed Friday, Dec. 22, for an administrative day; Monday, Dec. 25, for Christmas; and Monday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.

Trash collection

There will be no trash or recycling collections on Friday, Dec. 22, or on Monday, Dec. 25. Friday’s collections will be made on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Monday’s collections will be made on Wednesday, Dec. 27. There will be no collections made Monday, Jan. 1. That day’s collections will be made on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Street sweeping

There will be no street sweeping on Monday, Dec. 25. That day’s sweeping will be done on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Street sweeping scheduled for Dec. 27 will be done on Friday, Dec. 29. There will be no street sweeping done on Monday, Jan. 1. Sweeping scheduled for Jan. 1 will be done on   Wednesday, Jan. 3, and sweeping scheduled for Jan. 3 will be done on Friday, Jan. 5.

Yard waste site

Closed Dec. 22-23, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Landfill  

Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

City schoolsClosed Dec. 18-Jan. 2.

Libraries

Closed Dec. 22-25, and Jan. 1.

Community and

neighborhood centers

Closed Dec. 22-25, and Jan. 1.

Treasurer and Revenue

Closed Dec. 22, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

DMV SelectClosed Dec. 22, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Courts

Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1

Peninsula Health District

Closes at noon on Dec. 22. Closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Hampton History MuseumClosed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. Administrative office closed Dec. 22-25 and Jan. 1.

Public golf courses

The Hamptons and the Woodlands will close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will be closed all day on Dec. 25.

Air Power ParkMuseum building closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.

City parksClosed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1, including access to the Water Walk Trail.

Charles H. Taylor

Visual Arts Center

Closed Dec. 22-25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

James T. Wilson Fishing Pier

Closes Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. and will reopen at 7 a.m. Dec. 26. Pier will close at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, and will remain closed until spring.
