City Holiday Closings, Collections Schedules

In preparation for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, the city of has announced its schedule of closings and collection changes. Here are the details:

For the Christmas holiday, city offices, libraries, and the Recovery Operations Center will be closed from Friday, December 22 to Tuesday, December 26. Additionally, most recreation facilities will be closed during this period, with the exception of Brittingham-Midtown and Denbigh Community Centers, which will be open until 1 p.m. on Friday, December 22, and Saturday, December 23.

Garbage, recycling, and bulk waste collections will experience a delay of one day due to the holiday. There will be no collections on Monday, December 25, and all collections for the week will be pushed back by a day.

As for the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter, there will be some changes to the schedule as well. On Sunday, December 24, both the Adoption Center and Animal Reclaim/Surrender Lobby will close at 4 p.m. On Monday, December 25, the Animal Reclaim/Surrender Lobby will close at 1 p.m. However, the Adoption Center will be closed on Monday, December 25, and Tuesday, December 26. It will reopen on Wednesday, December 27, for adoptions from noon to 5 p.m.

Moving on to the New Year holiday, city offices, libraries, and recreation centers will be closed on Monday, January 1. The Recovery Operations Center will also be closed from Saturday, December 30 to Monday, January 1.

Similar to the Christmas holiday, garbage, recycling, and bulk waste collections will be delayed by one day for the week of the New Year. There will be no collections on Monday, January 1.

The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter will have adjusted hours as well. On Monday, January 1, the Animal Reclaim/Surrender Lobby will close at 1 p.m. It will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Adoption Center, on the other hand, will be closed on Monday, January 1, and Tuesday, January 2. It will resume adoptions on Wednesday, January 3, from noon to 5 p.m.

It is important for residents of to take note of these holiday closings and collection changes to ensure minimal disruption to their schedules.
