Christopher Newport University's softball team captured the NCAA Division III national championship for the first time in program history, winning a best-of-three series against Trine University on May 31, 2022 in Salem, Virginia. It is the university's second national championship in an NCAA team tournament in 2021-22.
Pitcher Jamie Martin was named national freshman of the year, while senior Kaitlyn Hasty won the national Division III player of the year award.
