The City of Portsmouth is inviting interested groups and individuals to participate in public hearings concerning the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan for its Community Planning and Development Programs. These meetings aim to gather citizen views and comments on the needs of the city's CPD programs.

Two identical hearings are scheduled for December 4, 2024. The first will take place at 10:00 am at the Neighborhood Facility Recreation Center located at 900 Elm Ave. The second hearing will be held at 4:30 pm in the Planning Department on the fourth floor of City Hall, situated at 801 Crawford St.

Federal funding details for the upcoming Action Plan have yet to be announced. Last year, the city received $1,563,930 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $455,398 from Home Investment Partnership (HOME) funds. These programs aim to provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expand economic opportunities primarily for low-income individuals.

Interested parties can obtain information related to the current plan by contacting the City's Planning Department via phone at 393-8836 ext. 4206 or email [email protected]. Applications will be available online starting November 15, 2024, at http://www.portsmouthva.gov/395/Community-Planning-Development-Program.

Applicants are encouraged to discuss eligibility and conformance with staff before preparing their applications. Completed applications should be submitted to the Planning Department by January 15, 2025, no later than 5:00 pm.

Both hearing locations are accessible to persons with physical disabilities. Those requiring reasonable accommodations are advised to contact Jeffrey Crimer at least 72 hours prior to attending or participating in these hearings by calling 757-393-8836 ext. 4206.
