Dec. 11, 2023 - City Council will hear reports on the city's developments over the past few years, as well as this year's financial audit report, during the Dec. 13  City Council work session.

Several public hearings are on the agenda for the evening business session, which begins at 6:30 p.m. The projects proposed include:

  • A large apartment complex at Commerce and Hartford drives. It would include about 380 unites and a six-story parking garage (see illustration).
  • An extended stay hotel at 2122 Hartford Road located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Hartford Road and Marcella Road
  • A rezoning and use permit that would complete approvals for the Riverside Behavioral Health & Recovery Center.
There are several budget amendments on the agenda as well. Since they total more than 1 percent of the total budget, there will be a public hearing. The largest is additional state funding for Hampton City Schools that is nearly $14.4 million.

For more details, see the agendas.

Both meetings are open to the public and will be held in City council Chambers on the 8th floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln Street. The afternoon work session begins at 1 p.m., and the evening meeting is at 6:30 p.m. They will be broadcast on Cox 47 and Verizon 22 channels and streamed at hampton.gov/livetv.
