CNU's Ryan Castle and Kindrick Braxton Receive Football All-Region Honors
Two members of the Christopher Newport University football team were honored Wednesday, as D3football.com announced its annual All-Region squads. Senior kicker Ryan Castle and junior defensive back Kindrick Braxton each were named third-team in region 2.
Castle connected on nine-of-11 field goal attempts as well as 29-of-31 PAT attempts this fall for Paul Crowley's squad. The Dublin, Va., native scored 56 points and moved up to first team All-Conference in the Nww Jersey Athletic Conference this year after being a second team All-Conference selection last year.
Braxton, a junior from Goochland, Va., led the Captains in tackles this season with 75, including 48 solo stops. Braxton set a new school mark for tackles in a game with 21 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference title game at Salisbury, and also recorded an interception. He earned his first conference post-season honor when he was voted first team by the NJAC..
The Captains concluded the season with a 7-3 overall record, and registered a 5-1 mark in the NJAC, finishing second in the league standings in Crowley's debut season as Head Coach. The 2022 campaign also saw the squad reel off six consecutive victories.
