CIAA Contests Impacted By Hurricane Ian

Multiple Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contests were affected by the impending Hurricane Ian, resulting in numerous adjustments — date changes, time changes, and cancellations across football, volleyball, and cross country.

FOOTBALL

  • Chowan at Fayetteville State - Kickoff time moved from October 1st to Thursday, September 29th, 7 p.m.
  • Elizabeth City State at Johnson C. Smith - Kickoff time moved from October 1st to Thursday, September 29th, 7 p.m.
  • Shaw at Virginia State - Kickoff time moved from 6 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st
  • Lincoln (PA) at Winston-Salem State (HOMECOMING) on October 1st - CANCELLED 
VOLLEYBALL

  • Claflin at Fayetteville State - Time moved to 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 29th
  • Winston-Salem State at Johnson C. Smith - Time moved to 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 29th
CROSS COUNTRY

  • Johnson C. Smith at the Great American HBCU Challenge on October 1st - CANCELLED
  • Fayetteville State at the Great American HBCU Challenge on October 1st - CANCELLED
MISCELLANEOUS

  • Bowie State Homecoming Parade on October 1st - CANCELLED
  • All Winston-Salem State-sanctioned Homecoming activities after noon on Friday, September 30 - CANCELLED
The CIAA and its member institutions will continue to monitor the severe weather potential of Hurricane Ian and provide updates as they arrive.
