2022-2023 Men's Basketball Schedule Released

Christopher Newport University Director of Athletics Kyle McMullin and Head Coach John Krikorian today announced the release of the 2022-23 Captains men's basketball schedule.

Christopher Newport will open its 55th season of action on Wednesday, November 9th, at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. The season-opener is set for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff. The Captains' home debut will come just three nights later, Saturday, November 12th , when CNU hosts Lynchburg University in a 6:00 p.m. start at the Freeman Center.

Krikorian is heading into his 12th season leading the Captains, and last year his team advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament. Christopher Newport finished the season with a 27-3 record, and won 24 straight games spanning from the end of November until mid-March.

CNU is slated to play 12 home games this season at the Freeman Center; four in November, four in December, two in January, and two in February. The Captains were 17-0 last year on their home court. Krikorian's squad will play 13 regular-season road games, plus the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at UC Santa Cruz in late February. In all, CNU will compete in six different states during the regular and post-season (Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and California).

The Captains will again host two tournaments at the Freeman Center, the weekend after Thanksgiving as well as the week between Christmas and New Year's. CNU will also travel to Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, for a two-day tourney at Susquehanna University on November 18th and 19th . The Captains will also travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a pair of games on December 20th and 21st , and later head to Massachusetts for two games on January 14th and 16th .

In addition to the regular season, the Captains are also slated to play an exhibition game at Old Dominion University on Wednesday, November 2nd .
