Enjoy an evening of family fun and entertainment, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display, during the “4th of July Stars in the Sky” event in the Yard District of Newport News.  All are invited to Victory Landing Park (50 25th Street) on Monday, July 4 from 7 p.m. until 9:15 p.m.  This 5.44-acre park offers incredible views of the James River and is the perfect setting for fun and fireworks.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with free children’s activities, including inflatables and face painting, strolling entertainment, and the Tomcats Dixieland Band in the front of the park, near the Victory Arch.  Guests can pick up free light-up give-a-way items during the event (while supplies last).  Enjoy live music on the main stage by the United States Air Force (USAF) Heritage of America Band from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.   On-site food vendors will also sell a range of food and desserts throughout the duration of the event.

At 9 p.m., settle in for a spectacular fireworks show by the internationally award winning fireworks company Pyrotecnico.   Marvel as this incredible show lights up the sky over the James River.

This event is sponsored by the City of Newport News, Newport News Shipbuilding, and the Daily Press.  Admission, activities and parking are all free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Newport News City Hall parking lot and designated non-restricted public parking spaces in the Downtown area.  No pets, bicycles, alcohol, skateboards, or radios are permitted inside the event area.  For more information, call 757-926-1400 or visit www.nnparksandrec.org.
