Positive impact can be amplified when companies, community organizations, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) come together to leverage their collective power to advance education and career opportunities for Black youth. With this idea in mind, Deloitte and Hampton University are seeking to engage with other companies and HBCUs to explore a concept that will expand opportunities for Black youth, HBCUs and communities of color and drive equitable outcomes.
"There are several great initiatives aimed at supporting Black youth and HBCUs,” said Dr. William R. Harvey, Hampton University President. “Having served 44-years as President of Hampton University, I am particularly proud to see Hampton and Deloitte LLP collaborating to explore a bold, comprehensive approach to enabling Black students across our country to overcome obstacles and become the next generation of outstanding workplace talent. I believe that Hampton’s commitment to delivering big, bold results combined with Deloitte’s commitment to racial equity will inspire and mobilize other businesses, HBCUs, and community partners to join us in taking collective action.”
“We are pleased to explore this initiative with Hampton University under Dr. Harvey’s leadership to expand opportunities for racially and ethnically diverse youth. Disrupting traditional business/university relationships will be essential to successfully drive equity in the workplace, communities, and society more broadly,” added Janet Foutty, Executive Chair of the Board, Deloitte US. “Cultivating equity generates business value. HBCUs provide a wealth of talent. Through this initiative, organizations have a unique opportunity to collectively invest in the development of skills, curricula, and career paths. This investment has the potential to both expand the opportunities available to Black youth and strengthen business competitiveness.”
