Hampton Parks & Rec after-school programs open for registration

City of Hampton issued the following announcement on Sept. 2

Now that school is set to start again, Hampton continues to offer valuable after-school programs, including:

Beyond the Bell: From 2-6 p.m., Monday-Friday, students can get homework help, play group games, and more at the Fort Monroe, West Hampton, or Northampton community centers. Dinner is provided. The cost is $45 a week for Parks and Recreation members and $55 for non-members.  

School’s Out, Rec's In: This is for teacher workdays (Nov. 2, Jan. 27, Jan. 28). Students ages 6-12 get a full day of recreational games, activities, and more from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. They must bring lunch, but dinner and a snack will be provided. The cost is $20 per student for Parks members and $40 per student for non-members. 

Re-Connect: Program lets students ages 6-17 earn membership at Hampton community centers (normally $15 for youth and teens) through community engagement. 

Operation Winter Break: This program is for kids ages 6-12. It starts when schools are dismissed for winter break. The full-day camp is offered Dec. 2-30 (closed Dec. 23 & 24) from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fort Monroe and Northampton community centers. Parents or guardians must provide food and snack. It costs $120 for Parks members and $140 for non-members.

Therapeutic Recreation programs 

  • Participants ages 6-22 can enjoy crafts, games, and more from 2-6 p.m. Sept. 7-June 17 at the Therapeutic Recreation Center, 4315 Kecoughtan Road. An individualized accommodation plan will be developed upon mandatory assessment. The weekly fee is $55.
  • School’s Out, Rec’s In: This program is for teacher workdays (Nov. 2, Jan. 27 & Jan. 28).  Enrolled students ages 6 to 22 can enjoy a full day of recreational games, activities, and more 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. Students must bring lunch. The fee is not required for those already enrolled in the Therapeutic Recreation program.
