The Hampton City Council is set to convene for its final meetings of the year on Wednesday. The schedule includes a regular afternoon work session, an evening legislative session, and two special morning meetings.
The sessions will occur in chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall, located at 22 Lincoln St. Meanwhile, the morning meetings are scheduled at the Great Hall of the Hampton History Museum at 120 Old Hampton Lane. These gatherings are open to the public and will be available for viewing on the city’s TV channels Cox 47 and Verizon 22, as well as streamed live online at hampton.gov/livetv.
The first meeting at 8 a.m. will provide an opportunity for the Council to engage with Hampton's representatives in the General Assembly to discuss priorities for the upcoming Richmond session. Following this, a 9:30 a.m. meeting with the board of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority will focus on discussing HRHA’s strategic plan concerning affordable housing and redevelopment.
In the afternoon work session starting at 1 p.m., topics such as traffic safety along Shell Road and survey results about a proposed mini-golf facility location will be addressed. A closed session is also planned to consider appointments to various boards and commissions.
The legislative session begins at 6 p.m., half an hour earlier than usual, featuring public hearings on re-zoning applications and other requests. Amendments to the Fiscal Year 2025 budget are also on the agenda. Additionally, student artworks selected for inclusion in this year's city holiday cards will be showcased during this session.
This meeting marks the last City Council gathering for Mayor Donnie Tuck and Councilmen Billy Hobbs and Chris Bowman, who will each receive recognition during the legislative session.
