The Planning Commission is set to convene on Thursday afternoon, with a focus on several rezoning and permit applications. The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the chambers located on the eighth floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln St. It is open to the public and will be broadcasted on local TV channels Cox 47 and Verizon 22, as well as streamed live at hampton.gov/livetv.

Among the key items for discussion is a permit application from the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. The organization seeks approval to develop a community center at its property located at 112 Research Drive. This center aims to provide social support services, food distribution, and training opportunities for food bank employment.

Hampton University has submitted an application to amend a previously approved plan concerning its facility at 2 Eaton Street. The university intends to upgrade a space on the 14th floor from a warming prep kitchen into a full commercial kitchen intended for entertainment events.

Additionally, Armia Real Estate LLC will propose a rezoning request for establishing a day care operation at 1721 N. King St., while Trilogy Developers LLC will discuss plans for constructing a new sanitary sewer pump station on LaSalle Avenue.

The director of Community Development is also scheduled to provide an update on initiatives being undertaken by the Youth Commission.
