There were 86 American Indian students enrolled in Newport News City Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 5.5% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Newport News City Public Schools District welcomed 26,219 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be the second least represented ethnicity in the school.
