The Hampton Planning Commission is set to discuss requests for extended hours for two restaurants and an off-track betting facility at its upcoming meeting on Thursday, Feb 21, 2024.

Rosie’s, owned by Colonial Downs Group, is seeking permission to operate around-the-clock to stay competitive with other regional betting facilities. According to the report, police have not raised any concerns since the closing time was extended from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. The proprietors have also requested to audit the security plan if the hours are extended.

Chance’s Restaurant & Lounge, located on Settlers Landing Road downtown, is requesting extended hours and an increased footprint for live entertainment. The application includes a request for live music every night until 2 a.m., but city staff is recommending shorter hours to align with other establishments in the area.

Similarly, George Restaurant & Lounge at 20 Mercury Blvd. is also seeking extended hours and live entertainment. However, city staff is recommending denial of the request unless delinquent taxes are settled.

The meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the City Council Chambers in City Hall, located at 22 Lincoln St. The session is open to the public and will be broadcast live on Fios Channel 22 and Cox Channel 47, with a live stream available at hampton.gov/livetv. Further details and the agenda can be accessed on the city's website.
