City Council to Discuss Real Estate Reassessments

City Council will be holding a budget briefing to discuss the latest real estate assessments in the city. The briefing will take place during the afternoon work session on Wednesday, Jan. 24. This will be followed by the regular legislative session in the evening, which will include a Spotlight Ceremony featuring Mayor Donnie Tuck's address from the State of the City presentation.

During the work session, there will be a recap of the new real estate reassessment values for Fiscal Year 2025, compared to Fiscal Year 2024. This will include an analysis of various categories such as the number of transfers, residential and commercial assessment changes, and total taxable value changes.

Additionally, the Public Works Department will provide a briefing on the reissuance of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System permit. The council will also consider appointments to various municipal bodies including the Hampton VA 250 Committee, the Hampton Commission on the Arts, and the Golf Course Advisory Committee.

In the legislative session, there will be amendments to the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, including the acceptance and appropriation of grants. The council will also be executing agreements between the Virginia Department of Health and the City Council for funding and services for the Hampton Health Department. Furthermore, there will be an invitation for bids from wireless service and infrastructure providers within the city.

Both the work session and the legislative session are open to the public and will be held at Council Chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall. The meetings will also be broadcasted on Cox 47 and Verizon 22, as well as streamed online at hampton.gov/tv.
