The Hampton Planning Commission is set to convene on Thursday afternoon to review a number of proposals. The meeting, which will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall, is open to the public.

One of the key items on the agenda is a request from Hampton University. The university has submitted a proposal to operate an event space on the 15th floor of Harbour Centre located at 2 Eaton Street. This request will be carefully considered by the Planning Commission.

Another proposal up for discussion is the addition of a mitigation bank to the list of permitted uses in all zoning districts in Hampton. A mitigation bank serves as a site dedicated to the restoration, creation, enhancement, or preservation of wetlands. The purpose of these sites is to provide compensatory mitigation for authorized impacts on other sites. This proposal aims to further environmental conservation efforts in the area.

Additionally, the commission will examine a series of changes aimed at allowing daycares in multiple districts across the city. These changes are intended to provide more accessibility and convenience for families in need of daycare services.

For those interested in attending or following the meeting remotely, City Hall is located at 22 Lincoln St. The proceedings will be broadcasted live on Fios Channel 22 and Cox Channel 47. Alternatively, the meeting can be streamed live on the official website of the City of Hampton at hampton.gov/livetv. More information, including the agenda and specific details, can be accessed on the city's website.

The Planning Commission's meeting presents an opportunity for the community to engage with important proposals and decisions that will shape the future of Hampton.
