On Friday, December 22, 2023, Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will be making some changes to its services in light of the upcoming Christmas holiday. While most services will continue to operate on a regular schedule, there are a few exceptions that passengers need to be aware of.
Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967, and 972 will not be in operation on Friday, December 22. Additionally, the specialized trips on Routes 414, 921, 961, and 964 will not serve the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard on that day. However, all other services, including bus, light rail, ferry, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit, will operate as usual.
The following day, Saturday, December 23, all services will continue to operate on a regular schedule, with the exception of administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center, which will be closed.
On Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit will operate on a Sunday schedule. The ferry, on the other hand, will continue to operate on a regular schedule. All administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed.
On Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit will also operate on a Sunday schedule, with the exception of the 757 Express Route 960 and the ferry, which will not be in service. As with the previous days, all administrative facilities, transit center information booths, and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed.
It is important to note that due to the closure of the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard for the Christmas and New Year's holidays, Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967, and 972 will not be in operation from Thursday, December 21, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024. These routes will resume their regular operation on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
