Dec. 13, 2023 - Hampton's Planning Commission will meet Thursday to consider allowing a cemetery to expand and a downtown restaurant to stay open later. Other items on the published agenda are expected to be moved to a future meeting.

The Karma Restaurant & Lounge in the shopping center at Lincoln Street and Armistead Avenue is requesting that it be allowed to remain open and have live entertainment until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. All live entertainment would remain indoors.

The other proposal is to allow an expansion of the Hampton Memorial Garden cemetery on less than an acre of land at Coliseum Drive and Hampton Roads Center Parkway that adjoins cemetery property.

The agenda also includes short-term rental requests, which are being delayed while a group of stakeholders gives more input on the policies. There is also a Hampton University request that is not quite complete and will be heard later.

The commission will meet Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers on the 8th floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln St. The meeting will be aired live on Fios Channel 22 and Cox Channel 47 and streamed live at hampton.gov/livetv. The agenda and details can be found here.
