The Portsmouth Museum & Fine Arts Commission has announced that they are now accepting grant applications for the Portsmouth Cultural Arts & Humanities Grant. This grant aims to provide partial funding to eligible organizations in order to support the creation and presentation of their work, as well as the development of new innovative programs and the expansion of existing ones. The overall goal is to increase opportunities in the humanities and visual and performing arts for all citizens of Portsmouth.

The Portsmouth Museum & Fine Arts Commission (MFAC) serves as an official advisor to the city government and City Council on all museums, cultural, and fine arts activities and programs in the city. The Commission, consisting of 15 members, is appointed by the City Council for terms of three years, with the possibility of being appointed for a second three-year term.
