Philosophy Pizza Café: What Does It Mean to Have Faith?
We can have faith in both religious and non-religious situations: We might have faith that someone is a decent person, faith that our partners are faithful, faith in our team, or faith in God.
What is this faith, though? Dr. Tweedt will argue for an account of faith called the “Perspectival Account of Faith”, and he’ll show how the account can help us answer several questions:
- Does having faith mean you can’t have reasons or arguments?
- Can you doubt and still have faith?
- Is faith the same thing as trust?
- Does faith require belief?
- Does faith affect our emotions? If so, how?
Come hear his answers and the reasons for them while eating free pizza,
and feel free to ask questions!
