York County has been recognized with four awards in the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Competition. The county received a Gold Award for Best Facebook Site for @VisitYorktown, a Gold Award for Best Event (within an Existing Festival) for the 250th Anniversary of the Yorktown Tea Party, a Bronze Award for Best Instagram Site for Visit Yorktown, and a Bronze Award for Best Organizational Website.

Kristi Olsen-Hayes, director of York County’s Department of Economic & Tourism Development, commented on the recognition: “These awards are a reflection of the creativity, dedication, and partnerships that drive our department’s success. Our events, social media, and website not only attract visitors, but they also strengthen our local economy, celebrate our history, and showcase the best of the region to audiences around the world. To have that impact recognized on an international stage is incredibly rewarding.”

The Pinnacle Awards Competition is sponsored by Haas & Wilkerson Insurance and honors achievements in festivals and events globally.
