York County Public Library is participating in the Big Library Read, a global digital book club. From July 17 to 31, library cardholders can access “The Storyteller’s Death” by Ann Dávila Cardinal as an ebook and audiobook for free via the Libby app or OverDrive website. The program allows readers worldwide to enjoy the title without waitlists or holds and engage in online discussions.

“The Storyteller’s Death” follows Isla Larsen Sanchez, who inherits a unique gift from her ancestors that lets her see past stories unfold before her eyes. The novel is set in Puerto Rico and explores themes of family, heritage, grief, and storytelling power. It was named one of BuzzFeed’s 20 Highly Anticipated Thrillers of 2022 and won the International Latino Book Award Gold Medal.

A special live event with author Ann Dávila Cardinal will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 12 p.m. EST. Hosted by Joe Skelley of Book Lounge by Libby, this conversation will delve into the novel’s themes. Registration for this event is available online.

Available through over 22,000 libraries globally, it enables readers to borrow selected titles instantly for a shared reading experience. OverDrive’s Libby app facilitates access to ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines on various devices.

Readers can enjoy “The Storyteller’s Death” on major computers and devices via Libby or OverDrive’s website. U.S. readers have the option to send it to Kindle as well. The title expires automatically at the end of the lending period without late fees.
