76.6% of Newport News City residents old enough to vote in 2021

Of the 185,069 citizens living in Newport News City in 2021, 76.6% were old enough to vote, equating to 141,767 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 67,443 were male, constituting 47.6%, and 74,324 were female, making up 52.4%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Newport News City during 2021 was lower than the state average, which stands at 77.9%.
