Hampton University's Men's and Women's Track and Field program competed in the Penn Relays April 28-30th, highlighted by a fifth-place finish for the women's 4x100 relay team in the Championship of America final.
The women's 4X100-meter relay team consisted of Pirate's Female Athlete of the Year Amira Aduma (Hampton, VA), Jaydea Carter (Pembroke Pines, Florida), Maya Seay (Norfolk, VA), and Jazlyn Jefferson (Jarratt, Virginia). The team recorded a time of 45:53.
The men's 4X200-meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 1:24.99 from Abraham Evans (Virginia Beach, VA), Moffat Wanjiru (Nairobi, Kenya), Deondre Little (Suffolk, VA), and Olakunle Akande (Rahway, NJ).
The men's 4X400-meter relay team of Jeremiah Hill (Midlothian, VA), Dugion Blackman (Kingston, Jamaica), Noah Langford (Portsmouth, VA), and Josiah Hill (North Chesterfield, VA) finished sixth in the finals with a time of 3:09.64.
Deja Grant (Springdale, MD) placed sixth out of 33 in the women's 400M hurdles with a time of 59.16.
Aduma finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 19-feet-2 inches; she also finished 10th out of 27 in the women's 100M clocking in at 11.58.
Jefferson finished eighth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.98 meters.
The Pirates will be back in action on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier in Lynchburg, VA.
