The City of Portsmouth has announced the return of its Sunset Thursdays summer concert series at Festival Park. This event, hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreation, will take place Thursday evenings from June 12 through August 28, featuring live music from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Notably, there will be no concerts on June 19 and July 24.

This free outdoor concert series invites attendees to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy performances by local and regional bands across various genres such as R&B, jazz, soul, and funk. Food vendors will be present each week to offer a selection of refreshments.

“Sunset Thursdays has become a summer tradition for residents and visitors alike,” said Mark Palamarchuck, Director Parks and Recreation. “We’re excited to bring the community together once again at Festival Park, which has a great stage, plenty of space and wonderful sunset views for people to relax, dance and enjoy the music.”

Parking is available for free after 6 p.m. at several locations including the Water Street Parking Lot, City Hall Parking Garage, County Street Parking Lot, and Water Street Parking Garage.

Attendees are reminded that no outside alcohol is permitted at Festival Park; however, beer and wine can be purchased from a licensed vendor on-site. Concerts may be rescheduled or canceled due to weather conditions.
